At MiWEndo we have always been fascinated by the research in biomechanics conducted by Dr. Xavier Trepat, from the Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya. Dr. Trepat studies how mechanical forces act on different molecular processes, whether they are pathological or not. Recently, an international consortium led by him and financed by “La Caixa”, one of the shareholders of our company, published in Nature Cell Biology how these forces act between intestinal cells.

The study reveals scientific curiosities such as the process that explains why intestinal cells are completely renewed every 5 days and how stem cells behave so that this works with complete synchronization.

The discoveries, beyond mere scientific curiosity, are of great importance. This new knowledge can help to better understand the cellular processes that lead to diseases such as Crohn’s or colon cancer itself, a disease to which we dedicate ourselves body and soul at MiWEndo. Therefore, from MiWEndo we join in the congratulations and recognition that Dr. Trepat and his team have already received for these discoveries and, as it cannot be otherwise, we encourage progress in this field.
